James McBeath

James McBeath is the Managing Partner for HEAL. James has been involved with HEAL since its inception, both as a material seed investor in Fund 1 and as Chairman of the Governance and Risk Committee, before more recently taking on the role of Managing Partner.

James brings ~20 years of financial services and investment experience to the role, commencing his investment career in unlisted infrastructure at Colonial First State GAM. Prior to HEAL, James founded ClearLife Capital with a former colleague from Paradice Investment Management, where they had both worked as Portfolio Managers focusing on small and mid-cap sized companies across a broad range of industries.

James’ family background sits across the Healthcare space, specifically in pharmacy where McBeath Health Services grew to become the largest privately owned, TGA licenced compounding pharmacy operation in Australia; focused on oncology supply into NSW and ACT hospitals. James led the transaction to ultimately sell this business to Icon Cancer Care in 2015 (then owned by Quadrant Private Equity) and has since been managing the McBeath family office across a range of predominantly direct asset classes.

James holds a Bachelor Economics from University of Sydney and is a CFA Charterholder.
